I was so saddened to hear about Vi's passing. My heart goes out to her friends and family. I had the honour of working with Vi in Nobel at Crestvu Square. She was such an amazing person that always made us smile and I count myself very fortunate to have known her.

My first memory of, my good friends Mom, was as a volunteer handing out Field Day ribbons at Nobel School when I was in grade 1. And later, when Jim, Bill and I were off playing hockey, so was she, on a ladies hockey team coached by Bucko McDonald. However, she reached legendary status in my family for rescuing my daughter Kim who at, not yet 3, decided to leave our home in the CIL village square, and go visit her grandmother on Pine Ridge Drive. She was trucking up Hamel Ave. when Mrs. Whittaker, thankfully, saved her from her ill conceived venture. She also saved us, not being able to find our lost child, from full blown panic. I will be forever indebted.

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family.

The community of Nobel has lost a community icon, it didn’t matter what was happening in our community, a wedding, funeral, grade eight graduation , birth of a beautiful new born, vi was always at the front and foremost of taking the lead in all special celebrations. Our community has lost this special angel but hopefully has left a legacy for all our young folks to follow
May you rest in pease vi in gods loving arms

I have told many stories to my husband and my son of Auntie Vi... especially her halloween gimmicks... the ghost sliding down the stairs... the "human" scarecrow sitting on the porch only to jump up and listen to us scream in terror and sheer delight all at the same time... the many craft nights at my moms house... the soap swans, crosses, snowman etc the list goes on... catering and my mom would say... "now Auntie Vi would not like it if you lick your fingers" so we took extra special care to not.. she will be missed but remembered so very fondly... xo to all family and dear friends. I'm sure her and Lynda are crafting up a storm!!
