REMI LEBLANC

It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Remi LeBlanc (Remi Eugere LeBlanc) on March 24, 2023 at home with his wife at his side, at the age of 78.

Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Claire, along with their two daughters Eileen Robitaille and Elaine Putnam, two son in-laws Michael Robitaille and Michael Putnam, 4 grandchildren Shayne Robitaille, Bryce Robitaille, Michelle Putnam, Jason Putnam and one granddaughter in-law Heleena Juneau-Taylor, one great granddaughter Mila Robitaille and three step great grandchildren London, Mason, and Addison.

Survived by his sisters and brothers Rosita Dalton, Julie Gregoire, Ted LeBlanc, and Joe LeBlanc, predeceased by Vic LeBlanc, Phil LeBlanc, and Edward LeBlanc, he will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Remi’s greatest love besides Claire would be life on Georgian Bay and specifically the Sans Souci area, as Remi would say “I am the self-proclaimed mayor of Sans Souci.” He lived, worked, and died in the place he loved most in the world.

Remi will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family invites you to join them in celebrating the life of Remi and a life well lived. Saturday April 1, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 52 Church Street, Parry Sound.

In lieu of Flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated.

Condolences

You know, every once in a while you get to meet a special person. Remi was one of them. I met him about 10 years ago at the Marina while travelling with my good friend Johnnie Nic, and his brother Charlie. Both Remi, Claire, and their employees treated you like family. I enjoyed listing to the conversations that were had. He will be missed!
My thoughts and prayers are with the LeBlanc Family at this time.
RIP Remi! God Bless!

Claire and Family,
We offer our sincere condolences to all of you at this difficult and sad time. We have so many fond memories of Remi presiding over "the Store", always offering a welcome smile and genuine inquiry into what Charlie and Henry were up to that day. To visit Remi each day was a happy outing for the kids, a destination - and his presence will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered, by us and the whole Community, of which he was a pillar. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you, that you may find peace during this time of loss.

Dear Claire:

We were so sorry and saddened to learn of Remi's recent passing.

Over the years you and Remi have been very kind to us.

True Partners! I recall when you recently wintered together on Frying Pan island and how Remi said that he "loved every minute of it".

Over the years you and Remi have made our family visits to the store a delightful activity.

We will miss Remi's smile and his good humour. Remi never hesitated to help someone or to poke fun at himself which are both rare and genuine qualities to embrace.

This is how we will remember Remi.

Our hearts go out to you Claire, to your daughters Eileen and Elaine, to your grandchildren and great grandchildren plus the entire LeBlanc family.

We are thinking of you at this time,

Love Lynn, Kim and Dana

To Claire and Remi's Entire Family-
Remi was a true treasure. In reading through the condolences it is clear what we all knew- he was genuine, friend to all and a wonderful person. He touched the lives of four generations of Chambers and O'Connells and we are all deeply saddened by his passing. Remi was as much a part of the Georgian Bay as the west wind, the pines and the glistening water. His spirit will live in the Bay forever. We are sorry that we will not be there to celebrate this extraordinary life with you. Know that you are very present in our minds. Peace be with you all during this time. RIP Dear Remi

-Jim Chambers and the Wa-Wa-Nosh Family

Remi was our friend and will be so missed by us. Our trips to Sans Souci marina will never be the same again.
He always had such useful suggestions related to any cottage, boat or G.Bay matter.
He would turn out in good weather or bad, cheerfully to taxi or family, friends (and dogs) for an exciting ride !
It has always been comforting to know he was there whatever the need. He will be missed in so many ways by our family.
We are so sorry we aren’t able to join you at his celebration of life.
We send heartfelt sympathy to Claire, Elaine, Eileen and all the LeBlanc family at this very sad time.

I delivered many loads of lumber when I drove for castle building supplies to Remi that he hauled out on to the bay. He was always a great guy to deal with. He always said that the ice cream was in him if I was out on the bay.

To Claire, Eileen, Elaine and Families,

Few people take the opportunity to impact an entire community. Even fewer do so ‘The LeBlanc Way’ – with warmth, compassion, great humour, and tremendous work ethic. No doubt, we never said thank you enough for all the times you’ve gone the extra mile to help us, but we hope Remi left us knowing how much he was loved. Long live the Mayor!

Love and condolences,

Our hearts go out to Claire and the LeBlanc as we just learned of Remi's passing yesterday when we visited San Souci LeBlanc General Store. Remi was one of those kind souls who was always cheery and interested in everything that was going on. Thankful to have had Remi always there each summer with Claire to help her run the show and now an Era is over. Claire will March on!! Our condolences to all those who knew and loved Remi. I will always remember the time Remi took to come down to my boat parked at his dock the summer of 2021 to talk with my Mom in her 99th year. She really appreciated Remi reminiscing with her and she was gone 4 months later. RIP Remi...

-Ian M Clark

I was very sorry to learn of Remi’s passing when I visited the Sans Souci Store yesterday. A wonderfully kind man with a great family. I remember, many years ago, when we had a cottage visitor from France during the World Cup. Remi took us into his living room turned on the TV and let us watch the action while he tended to the store. Our deep condolences to Claire and their family.
