MAUREEN McGOWN

Maureen Muriel McGown (nee Quinn), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024. She was born in 1940 and shared 68 years of love with her husband Jim McGown. Throughout her life, she exemplified the values of faith and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

She was the youngest (and last surviving) of 19 siblings, affectionately known as "Andy's Army," a family that shared deep bonds of love and camaraderie. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her every action and inspiring those around her to embrace compassion and joy.

Maureen dedicated decades to caring for others, first as the owner of her own hair salon and later as a registered nurse, when, at the age of 50, she embarked on a new chapter, graduating as a nurse and devoting the next 25 years to serving in long-term care environments, including St. Joseph's and Belvedere. Her unwavering dedication brought solace and smiles to countless individuals and families.

Maureen will be deeply missed by her husband, daughters Maggie (George) Moniz and Carrie (Jon) Nolan, grandchildren Amanda (Mark) Di Teodore and Eric (Samantha) Moniz, great grandchildren Riley Moniz, Mason Di Teodore, Chace Di Teodore and Addison Moniz as well as her two great great granddaughters Olivia and Savannah Moniz and by her many nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws and extended family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Maureen's Life at 2:00 P.M. at Bayside Family Church (4 Parry Sound Dr, Parry Sound, 705-746-5882) on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Bayside Family Church, her church family, would be appreciated.

Saddened to learn of Maureen's passing but comforted to know she had a deep faith to accompany and comfort her on her journey.
I went to school with her and enjoyed her friendship immensely - that sparkle in her eye and smile was ever present both to her friends and to those she cared for in her nursing career. I can see it still. A beautiful soul. My sincere and deepest condolences to her beautiful family💔😔

I had the pleasure of working in nursing with Maureen both at St Joseph’s Hospital and Belvedere. I spent many years attending Church with Maureen as well as enjoyed many suppers at our LIFT ladies group. Maureen was such a testimony of service to others and such an example of God's love. She will be missed. My deepest condolences to Jim and entire family.

So sorry to hear about Maureen. She was a big part of my younger years. We lived beside the family on Beach wood Dr. My family often laugh at how my best friend was the family dog named puddles. I use to go knock on the door to see if puddles could come out and play. Later playing with a tiny little girl named Carrie. I often wondered about the family. Wondering if they were still in PS.
