MARGARET MacDONALD

Today Wed. Aug 1st we mourn the loss and also celebrate the life of Margaret MacDonald nee Coleman who passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Parry Sound Health Centre. Her entire family was by her side.

Margaret the youngest of five children was born and raised in west Toronto.

In 1955 accompanied by her lifelong friend and roommate Shirley Roberts Margaret travelled for a weekend in Muskoka. Attending a Saturday evening dance at Dunn's Pavilion she met a young man a boxer and baseball player of local renown Donald MacDonald. He was to be the love of her life. They married in 1956 and settled into their life in MacTier where ‘Donny’ worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway and together they raised their family. Margaretís greatest accomplishment in life was that of loving wife mother Nan Big Nan aunt sister and true friend.

Margaret will be remembered for her steadfast faith her dedication to the community and her unwavering devotion to her family. She was an active member of the Seniors Group Lions Club and also the Catholic Women's League. No community event was too big no fundraiser too small for Margaret to volunteer her time prepare sandwiches bake pies or even a few dozen of the butter tarts she was so well known for.

Her husband Donny passed away in 1992 following a brief battle with cancer.

Margaret is survived by her eight children and their spouses: Kim and Ron Lashbrook;
Steven and Ingrid MacDonald; Dawn MacDonald and Gregory Young; Dale and Barbara MacDonald; Rosemary and Roy Lovold; Suzanne and Tim Dempster; Gwen MacDonald; Janet and Michael Bannerman.

Her 19 grandchildren: Jennifer Wilson Melissa Lashbrook Natalie Lashbrook Donald MacLeod Benjamin Young Whitney MacLeod Garrett MacLeod Rebecca Young Quinn and Paige MacDonald Sara and Ian MacDonald Lauren and Michaela Lovold MacKenzie Mariah and Madison Dempster Coleman and Carlee Bannerman.

Also by her 7 great-grandchildren: Brady MacLeod Torren Connor and Emma Wilson Kyra MacLeod Joshua Aubert and Cobie Schell.

Margaret will also be missed by her many nieces nephews and her wonderful friends.

Resting at St. James the Great Roman Catholic Church where family will receive visitors on Sunday August 5th between the hours 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Funeral Mass to be celebrated in the Church on Monday 6th at 11:00 A.M.

Interment MacTier Union cemetery.
