JEAN CAMERON (SWEEZIE)

Jean Audrey Cameron went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, at the West Parry Sound Health Centre. Age 73 years.

Beloved wife and best friend of Lory for 22 years. Loving mother of Heather Patzer (Brad), and Joy Crookshank (Michael). Proud Grandma of Ryan and Megan Patzer, and Sarah and Tim Crookshank. Loving sister of George Martin, Bonnie Wardle, and the late Grace Bokesch. Loving daughter of the late Jack and Chrissy Martin.

Jean worked in the Barrie and Area Court System until her retirement. She also served on the Barrie City Council for one term. Jean loved to paint, stitch and cook – family meals were very important to her – and she was by far the best “snack bag packer” there ever was! Jean’s family was always a top priority, as was her strong Christian faith.

Jean’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the West Parry Sound Health Centre for all of their care and support.

As was Jean’s request, a private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated.

Condolences

Sending you all so much love. Your Mom was a wonderful, witty woman with so many wise and funny tidbits of advice that Heather, you have so lovingly passed on…like about not crying in the mirror and always carrying a $20 in your wallet. 🥰🥰 Our hearts are broken for you and Joy and your families.

Sending love to all on Jean's passing. Jeannie, as we cousins called her when we were kids, was such a bright light.....so much fun and always with a quick wit and great laugh. She will be missed. xo

Rest In Peace! I met with Mrs. Sweezie while she was Councillor for Barrie, Ontario. While then watching the Barrie, Ontario Council meetings, and or reading the newspapers, you could see that Mrs. Sweezie truly cared about those men and women she represented. When I personally met with Mrs. Sweezie, for the first time, this was also the feeling that I got. It was because, out of total respect, of Mrs. Sweezie, she explained what she had been through while asking me to tell of my personal journey, that I ended up giving a deputation in front of the, as they were then, Barrie, Ontario Council members. My deepest condolences to Lory, and the girls and their families, and Jean's family. Jean and I worked closely together for around 30 years in the court system. Lots and lots of giggles and laughter came from our office. I have wonderful memories of those days. Big hugs to everyone, and may God's peace be with you. - Hilda Van Beek (Wilson)

So very sorry for your loss. Jean hired me as a Court Reporter at the Barrie Courthouse in 2007. I loved having her as my Supervisor. She was so kind and caring. RIP Jean

I am one of the many Superior Court Judges that Jean served, taught and entertained for many years in her judicial assistant role. She has been missed since her retirement and this is sad news. All the best to her family.
