DR. DANIEL R. DALEY MD, CCFP(c)

Daniel R. Daley MD CCFP(c) passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) on Saturday August 31st 2013. Age 85 years. Born in Magnetawan to Thomas J. Daley and Lydia (Kovar). Childhood Sweetheart of Velma (Troyer) Daley and Beloved Husband for 63 years. Cherished father of Jim (Gail) Eleanor Ed (Sue) and Jay (Cindy). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Katie and Ellen; Ryan Bradley and Daniel; Chris Justin and Caitlin; Kylee and Alex. Doting great grandfather of Leah Liam Leo and Mason. Dear brother of Nancy Holborn Mary Sawkins Jerry Daley Pat Raaflaub and the late Thomas Daley. Fondly remembered by his nieces nephews other relatives colleagues former patients and friends.

Dan graduated from the University of Toronto in 1952 and after interning for a year at St. Michaelís Hospital in Toronto he started practicing family medicine with Drs. Wright and MacKay and was a founding partner of the Wright Clinic. He was a general practitioner in every sense of the word from house calls in the middle of the night to surgery emergency room anaesthesia obstetrics 20 years as a Coroner and medical student training and examining for College certification.
Dan was an incredible teacher and leader by example both in his medical career and in his great love and passion for family friends colleagues nature and sports - in particular; boating fishing hockey windsurfing and cross-country skiing.
Dan was awarded the Ontario Medical Association Physician Care Award for 2012 - a great honour considering that he retired from full time practice in 1993. He was also presented with the Queenís Diamond Jubilee Medal in August 2012.

Resting at the Logan Funeral Home (705-746 5855) 81 James St. Parry Sound where family and friends will be received on Tuesday September 3rd between the hours of 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M. Funeral Service at St. Andrewís Presbyterian Church on Wednesday September 4th at 11:00 A.M. Reception to follow.
