DAVID GRAVES

David Peter Graves passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, on Sunday, August 28th, 2022. Age 75 years.

Loving son of the late Frank and Peg Graves (Hannon). Beloved husband of Cheryl Graves (Rason) for 53 years. Loving father of Daniel (Athena), Tim (Tiffany), and Paul (Jeanette). Cherished Grandad of Jade, Leighton, Ethan, Anastasia, Eden, Brooklyn, Lacie, and Hannah. Dear brother of Mary Hopcraft (Bill), and the late Pat Graham (Jim). Fondly remembered by cousins Barry Stephenson and Lori Stephenson, and by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David Peter Graves (1947-2022) was raised in Orrville, Ontario and attended high school in Parry Sound. In 1968 he married Cheryl Rason and made a home for many years with her and their three sons on North Taylor Mills Drive in Richmond Hill. He was a 32-year employee of Richmond Hill Hydro first as a journeyman lineman, and later as Operations Superintendent, retiring as Director of Engineering and Operations. A community-minded individual, at various times he was a member of the Anglers and Hunters Association, the Richmond Hill Winter Carnival Committee, and neighbourhood fix-it man. In his retirement, he returned to Orrville, where he worked in business with his son, Paul, and later as a home inspector. He enjoyed the cottage life on Duck Lake and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Much of his relaxing time was spent in the workshop, often using tools inherited from his father. He built two beautiful homes. His kindness and generosity shone through most of all in his love of his grandchildren, and in his encounters with every dog he ever met.

Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound (705-746-5855), on Friday, September 9th, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., and on Saturday, September 10th from 12:30 – 1:30 P.M.

A Celebration of David’s Life will take place in the Logan Memorial Chapel, on Saturday, September 10th, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. Reception to follow.

Interment Christie Memorial Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Pancreatic Cancer Canada, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Although we did not know David for very long or very well he always made us feel welcome into our community here at Granite Harbour. No matter what was going on in his life he always was cheerful and engaging and never complained about the noise coming from across the hall!! He will be missed. Our sincerest condolences to Cheryl and their lovely family at this very sad time.

Dear Cheryl and Family,
I'm so sorry to hear about David.
He was always so welcoming and friendly to me, and he always remembered who I was. No small accomplishment since I come from a family of seven girls/women.

Dear Cheryl & family,
I’m so very sorry to hear about Dave’s passing.
I worked at RH Hydro and remember him very well. I didn’t know though that he had such a love for dogs. That line in his obituary made me smile.

I hope you take comfort in all the wonderful memories that you made together as a family.
Sincerely
Eleanor Muzzone.
