Mary Sheila Yvonne Ramsay began her journey over to the spirit world with family and her furry companions by her side, only 65 years young.

Beloved wife of Bruce Miller for 30 years, who took such good care of her in these last months of her life, making her comfortable and being by her all the time. Before that, she was married to the late Ronald Ramsay at the tender age of 18.

Ron and Sheila had three children. Firstborn son John, was inseparable from her in those formative years; Waylon was next, who now has his wife Jennifer; finally came Leslie, her little girl, who just married her best friend Jordan. Her children cherish those early years of life in Dillon at the homestead where both boys now live. Those years were filled with happiness and freedom.

It filled her heart with joy to become the grandmother of Rambo. Her time with him here was too short. The stories he will hear about his crazy bingo-brawling, Chihuahua-smuggling, snowman-loving, cat-cuddling Nokomis will keep him laughing and smiling throughout his life.

Sheila was the eldest daughter of the late Lorraine Pawis of Shawanaga & the late Joseph McQuabbie of Pickerel. Dear sister of Michael, Susan, Glenna, Kim, Janice, Joseph Jr.,
and the late Daniel, Robert, and Arnold. Being the “big sister”, she often acted like a mom to many of her siblings, even though she too was only a child. Life was tough growing up on the rez, and she did her best to help find food and give comfort and love to them all in times of hardship.

Many will remember her driving around in her red truck, always visiting people, out and about, and at Bingo. She loved her pets, almost a little too much, and wanted to save every suffering animal she came across. Her heart was so big, so full of love, but so damaged from the suffering she endured in her early life. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends as a funny, spunky, Firecracker and Ogichidaakwe (Warrior woman). Her humour, big heart, and strength will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial Visitation and luncheon will take place at the Logan Funeral Home, on her birthday, Family Day, Monday, February 18th, from 11:00 – 1:00 P.M.
