PAT PURDON

Mary Cathileen ‘Pat’ Purdon passed away peacefully at Lakeland Long Term Care (Parry Sound) on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024. Age 98 years.

Beloved wife of the late Cleve Purdon. Loving mother of: Colleen (Joachim); Maura (Shannon); Mary Pat (Bruce); Dan (Marsha); Paula (Jeffrey); Dean (Carol); Dennis (Leslie); and David (Dawn). Cherished Nana of Julia, Sonja, Sebastian, Matthias, Maggie, Lee Ann, Richard, Kelsey, Brooke, Erin, Ryan, Tyler, Aleesha, Devin, Justin, Michaela, Joel, Samara, Emmett, Elijah, MacKenzie, and Hunter. Great-grandmother of Olivier, Camille, Ellie, Lucas, Nadia, Lennox, Bree, Mark, Neil, Cooper, Willa, Klara, and Madeline. Dear sister of the late James ‘Jimmy’ Lee. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Pat moved to MacTier from the big city of Toronto, with her husband Cleve, in what was to be a brief stay. More than 70 years later she was still in MacTier, having raised a family of eight children, nurtured countless friendships and contributed to the development and vitality of the local community. She loved music, singing, learning and reading, cottage excursions including cards, campfires and social get togethers. Most importantly Pat tirelessly promoted and supported family and friends to lead active and involved lives.

Pat was a ‘can do’ person, never missing a fund-raising opportunity to aid local initiatives. Over the years she actively supported numerous organizations, including The MacTier Railroad Museum, The Lions Club, Meals on Wheels, Parks & Recreation and The Catholic Women’s League.

Pat’s indominable spirit, kindness, warmth and passion will be deeply missed.

Pat’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire Lakelands Long-term Care team who cared for her over the last four years.

Resting at St. James the Great Roman Catholic Church in MacTier, where family will receive visitors on Wednesday, August 28th from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M., and on Thursday, August 29th from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M. Reception at The MacTier Memorial Community Centre (arena).

Cremation to follow with interment at MacTier Union Cemetery at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations are welcome to Lakeland Long Term Care (Parry Sound), The Township of Georgian Bay Public Library (MacTier) (donations by cheque or on-line through the Georgian Bay Township web-site), or a charity of your choice.
