It is with heavy hearts that we wish to announce the sudden passing of Michael Richard Villeneuve, on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 in the care of Health Sciences North, Sudbury, at the age of 72 years.

Michael is the cherished, loving husband and best friend of Sandra (nee Hawkins) of 48 years. Proud father of Joe (Danielle) and MJ (Jenny). Adored Poppa of Evan and Alena. Michael will be sadly missed by his mother Lena (the late Joe) and his brother Neil (Louise). Predeceased by brothers Rod and Kirby. Brother-in-law of Marlene Villeneuve, Gloria Pinksen, Bob Hawkins, Lorraine Vankoughnett (the late Jim), Lana Crompton (Gary), Tim Hawkins (Lisa). Fondly remembered by long-time friend David Juffs, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

Michael grew up in the Parry Sound area. Between an early childhood in Woods Bay and the family’s Holiday Cove Marina in Parry Sound he spent a lifetime on Georgian Bay. Michael was a longtime and dedicated employee of the Canadian Coast Guard. Through both careers he was fortunate to meet and interact with many. Michael always considered himself lucky to have crossed paths with so many and took great interest in those he met. Michael loved to fish and hunt, sharing many memories and stories with his hunt camp buddies. He had a passion for following local hockey and enjoyed spending time anywhere in the community where he was fortunate to find a conversation with any of his friends. Michael taught us all to use our hearts to the fullest.

As was Michael’s wish, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Michael's Life will take place at the Parry Sound Legion on Saturday, June 11th from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated.

I am heartbroken at this news... so very sorry for your loss Sandra & his entire family. He will be long remembered for his kindness, as well as his fun-loving way of life. I am just so sorry to see this.

So sad to hear of Mike's passing, Mary & I both had the opportunity to work with Mike at the Parry Sound Base. I also had the opportunity to hunt, fish and curl with Mike on many occasions, he was always a gentleman.

My condolences to the Family. I met Michael over 50 years ago on Georgian Bay and worked with him during most of his years at the Coast Guard Base. Along the way I saw Mike help a lot of people, touch a lot of people, raise two great sons and try his best with David .... and Eric....and curling. Always a Gentleman. When you saw him, you smiled.
