MIKE VILLENEUVE

It is with heavy hearts that we wish to announce the sudden passing of Michael Richard Villeneuve, on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 in the care of Health Sciences North, Sudbury, at the age of 72 years.

Michael is the cherished, loving husband and best friend of Sandra (nee Hawkins) of 48 years. Proud father of Joe (Danielle) and MJ (Jenny). Adored Poppa of Evan and Alena. Michael will be sadly missed by his mother Lena (the late Joe) and his brother Neil (Louise). Predeceased by brothers Rod and Kirby. Brother-in-law of Marlene Villeneuve, Gloria Pinksen, Bob Hawkins, Lorraine Vankoughnett (the late Jim), Lana Crompton (Gary), Tim Hawkins (Lisa). Fondly remembered by long-time friend David Juffs, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

Michael grew up in the Parry Sound area. Between an early childhood in Woods Bay and the family’s Holiday Cove Marina in Parry Sound he spent a lifetime on Georgian Bay. Michael was a longtime and dedicated employee of the Canadian Coast Guard. Through both careers he was fortunate to meet and interact with many. Michael always considered himself lucky to have crossed paths with so many and took great interest in those he met. Michael loved to fish and hunt, sharing many memories and stories with his hunt camp buddies. He had a passion for following local hockey and enjoyed spending time anywhere in the community where he was fortunate to find a conversation with any of his friends. Michael taught us all to use our hearts to the fullest.

As was Michael’s wish, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated.

Norm and I send our sincere condolences to you and your family. When relaying the sad news of Michael's passing to many of his co-workers the sentiments they shared with me are much the same as in the poem I wrote for Mike in 2010. "Michael-this lengthy story is truly all in jest. As a co-worker, supervisor, friend-you are the very best! Your kindness, help & humour surely will be missed by all, Your dedicated acts of service are too many to recall."
With love, from his CG family.

My condolences to the Family. I met Michael over 50 years ago on Georgian Bay and worked with him during most of his years at the Coast Guard Base. Along the way I saw Mike help a lot of people, touch a lot of people, raise two great sons and try his best with David .... and Eric....and curling. Always a Gentleman. When you saw him, you smiled. He made us laugh.

It truly breaks my heart to read this notice. Mike loved you all so very much and he was loved by not only his family but by all of us who had the exceptional good fortune to meet him. Lena, I can not comprehend your grief loosing another son. Sandra and Mikes children and grands your husband and dad was the shining example of what a father should be. Neil and Louise I am so very sorry. I was so blessed to meet Mike while caring for uncle Emmer and then again brother Kirby. Each and every time I met Mike he asked how I was thanked me for caring and even though I thought I was supporting the and the family Mike and all his family supported me. I cherish every time we met. Mike always treated me with such kindness. You are such a strong and loving family I hope this eases some of the pain that you all share. Sending my love to all of you.
