LENA VILLENEUVE

Jessie Leona (Lena) Villeneuve (nee Scott) passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at Belvedere Heights, Parry Sound in her 99th year.

Beloved wife of the late Joe Villeneuve. Loving mother of Neil and his wife Louise, the late Michael (Sandra), Rodney (Marlene) and Kirby (Gloria). Loving Gram of Joe (Danielle), MJ (Jenny), Randy (Dee), Caitlin, and Nicole (Jeff). Treasured GG to Evan, Alena, Madelyn, Mason, Rhys, and Jaxson. Dearly loved by her family and friends.

Lena was raised on the Scott family farm in Nobel, Ontario along with her nine siblings. Survived by her loving brother, Vince. Lena was famous for her pies and bread at the former Maple Leaf Restaurant and then managing Holiday Cove Marina with her husband Joe. We will always remember Lena for her love, her intelligence, her sense of humour, and particularly her wonderful stories.

Lena's family would like to express a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Serenity Seniors Residence and Belvedere Heights for their extraordinary care and friendship.

As was Lena's wish, cremation has taken place. Private family interment to follow.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated.

To everyone,
So sorry for your loss. Who didn’t love Lena?… she always had a smile and a laugh, May she Rest In Peace. She endured a lot over her lifetime but never lost her sense of humour. I’m sure her three sons and husband were waiting with open arms for her.

It was always a pleasure to see Lena at Serenity when I was visiting my Dad. She was funny and a straight shooter just like her late sister, Lila. Al’s band performed at both Serenity and Belvedere—on their first meeting, Lena asked for an Eddy Arnold song, and the only one Al knew was Make the World Go Away. Lena happily sang along and requested it every time thereafter.
Our condolences to Sandra and all of Lena’s family,

My condolences to Lena’s family. Lena and I had many chats, when she lived at Serenity. I had the privilege of being her nurse for 2 years. We chatted about books, and of course her family. She loved her family so much. I will always remember Lena, and her kind words.

Fondly remembered from our time being neighbors at Holiday Cove.

Neil,
We are very sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I remember her from my days with mom and dad, Gene and Arlene Poytress at Holiday Cove and remember the smells of her baking drifting from the house down to the docks.
Condolences to you and all the family.

So sorry for the loss of Lena. I have such fond memories of arriving to Holiday Cove to be greeted by Lena and your family. Even more special, Joe and Lena were my parents best friends growing up. Lena was always warm and full of laughter. She lived a great life and was loved by so many. Our thoughts are with your family during this sad time.

I first met Lena through Deb and Emerson Scott. I felt an immediate connection. Our paths crossed many times in both happy and sad times. Lena always treated me like family as did her own sons, her daughters in law and her grandkids. She never failed to ask how Bob and I were. She had a razor sharp memory and wit. She was the glue that held her exceptional family together through unbearable tragedies. She always stood up for what she believed in. I remember her leading the residents counsel @ Serenity to advocate for better food. I remember us all gathering to raise funds for ALS on behalf of Kirby and her disappearing on her scooter leading the walk (we could not keep up with her). I remember her wise counsel and her loving smile and embraces. To all of you remaining I send my love and wish that you find peace in days to come. Lena was one of a kind and I loved her.
