Jennie Absolon (nee: Cryer) started her spiritual journey on Monday, April 19th, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener.

Beloved wife of David for 64 years. Loving mother of Debbie Welch; Mark Absolon (Leilani); Jo-Anne Absolon; Kathy Absolon; and Chrissy Hauck. Cherished grandmother of Charlie Welch; Kelly Welch; Lori Rideout (Craig Rideout); Jeremiah Varga; Jessica Varga; Jackson Absolon; Amanda Thompson (Healy Thompson); Akiesha Absolon-Winchester (Jeff Chambers); Cody Absolon-Winchester; Derek Hauck; & Brittany Hauck. Dear great grandmother of Victoria, Natasha, Logan, Alex, Janessa, Tyson, Caiden, Everleigh, Kennedy, Preston, Ellis and Auggie. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jennie’s spirit name was MawkiziiOdeKwe – Strong Heart Woman. She was an Elder and member of Flying Post First Nation Treat 9. She had a resilient spirit and carried a strong heart. She and her husband David loved their family very much. They lived together in Cranberry Lake and then retired to Britt, Ontario. Together David and Jennie raised 5 children followed by 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She brought a beautiful spirit, smile, sense of humour and amazing hunting skills to her family and those who knew her. Jennie loved being on the land (hunting, fishing and blue berry picking) was an amazing chef, and known for her fabulous blueberry pies.

Private family visitation and service will take place at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound (705-746-5855). Cremation to follow.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Shin Guac Alumni Association for Survivors of Residential Schools, or the Britt Nursing Station would be greatly appreciated.
