Janet Bernice Thomas passed away peacefully at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, on Saturday, August 10th, 2024. Age 85 years.

Loving daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary Lorentz. Beloved wife of Phillip Thomas for 60 years. Loving mother of Jeff Thomas and his wife Shelley, and Jill Spalla and her husband Dave. Cherished grandma of Holly, Ben, and Danny. Dear sister of Gary (Elizabeth), Joanne (John), and Mike (Mary Ann). Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

As was Janet’s wish, cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre (Palliative Care) would be appreciated.

I am saddened to hear of Janet’s passing. I have so many fond memories with the Thomas family. I have felt privileged and welcomed into their home on many occasions. Including ski trips and away trips of other types. Her wit and general character will never be forgotten.

Dear Jeff, Shelley and Danny, Our hearts are breaking for you guys and we wish you peace and comfort knowing that Janet is no longer suffering . She was such an amazing Lady and we hope that your wonderful memories bring some lightness to your hearts. We can’t help but laugh when we remember the Saturday nights spent at your place when she would “school” us (Paula) when playing cards (what’s a bower? LOL) . There wasn’t a single time that she was without a big smile on her face accompanied by her contagious laughter. We love you guys xoxox

Janet was the BEST sister ever! So happy she has gone home to her final resting place! She will be dancing up a storm and no doubt chewing gum.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I was very fortunate to have been a friend and old neighbour of Janet and Phil. So very sorry to Phil and family, Janet was a great woman and will be dearly missed. I am glad I got to know her while working at the Gardens. She always had a smile on her face no matter what she was going through. My thoughts are with everyone.

Janet was one of the original member of the “Rummoli Group”. I was fortunate enough to be invited to join this great group of ladies many years after its inception. The monthly Friday Night games were filled with joy, wine, jokes, nibbles, ridicule and strong bonds of friendship. Janet always had stories from Shoppers to share and wisecracks about everything. No doubt Janet, you are organizing a game with Judy, Nellie, Cathy and Cec. You will always be remembered. Phil, Jeff and Jill our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you thru these difficult times.

I didn’t know Janet well but I grew up in west rouge seeing her working at shoppers drug mart. She was a kind lady. I later purchased my dream home from her. She was so sweet and toured me around the house before closing and showed me all her cute cow decor. My condolences to the family.

I always admired Janet’s zest for life and her positive attitude which made all of us who knew her feel special. She had a welcoming demeanour that set examples of goodwill and compassion.
