DOROTHY PURVIS

Dorothy Jane Munro (Melvin) Purvis passed away peacefully at Lakeland Long Term Care on Monday, February 24th, 2025 at the age of 98.

Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert “Bob”, son Robert “Douglas” and brother John Melvin. She is survived by her son David, daughter Debra Lawson (Victor), granddaughter Lindsay Loft (Andrew), great grandson Wesley, brother Douglas Melvin and sister Ruth Beamish (Sam).

Dorothy enjoyed many years working for Easter Seals in Toronto. This was followed by a long and happy retirement in Bobcaygeon, Rockwood, Guelph and Barrie, finally settling in Parry Sound in her later years. She made many friends along the way, enjoyed dancing, a good game of cards and had a great love of music. Most importantly though, Dorothy was devoted to her family and she will be sorely missed by all.

Interment will occur in the spring/summer of 2025, at which time a private celebration of life will take place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Canadian Diabetes Association (Diabetes Canada) in Dorothy’s name would be appreciated.

Condolences

Sending sincere condolences to the family on behalf of the Purdon siblings of Pat, a neighbour and close by table mate at Lakelands. Dorothy was always so kind to both Mom and all of us. Obviously a loving and caring Mom. Such a sweet woman with a lovely heart and smile. I’m sure she will be missed but know she made a difference to others at Lakelands as well. In sadness for your loss, Mary Pat and my Purdon siblings, Colleen, Maura, Dan, Paula, Dean, Dennis and David

-Mary Pat Nickel (Purdon)

David, Debbie and Family, Sending our deepest sympathies to you on losing your Mom. Mom was very kind and loving to us over the years since living in Don Mills in the 70's. We remember the long chats and special moments over dinner when we visited at your home. It was always a treat to hear your Mom and Eileen speaking "Scottish" to each other. Your Mom will be dearly missed and may God bless her soul. Eileen, Paul and the Sue-A-Quan Family.

-Paul & Eileen Sue-A-Quan

Debbie and Dave and Family, we are thinking about you on the passing of your Mom. We did not know her well, but it is obvious that She and your Dad raised some very good children. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and hear the stories of your family. We are sure your Mom and Dad were very proud of you, and thankful for your love and respect of them.
