CLIFF HIMES

Clifford Himes passed away peacefully at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023. Age 94 years.

Beloved husband of Reva Himes (nee: McGary) for 66 years. Loving father of Heather (the late Dave), and Bob (Carolyn). Cherished Papa of Nik, Joshua (Rachel), Aaron, Ben, and Mitchell (Mandy). Great Papa of Miley and Bert. Predeceased by his brother Reid Himes (Audrey); and by his sister Marion Cordell (Bill). Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Cliff and Reva married in 1956 and Cliff retired from CNR in 1987 after 38 years. In his early years, he played lots of hockey and golf. Cliff’s love of singing barbershop harmony lasted for 65 years singing in quartet and chorus shows, competitions and conventions in Canada and the U.S. During this time he built a cottage on Horseshoe Lake which was enjoyed by the family for 30 years. Cliff and Reva moved to Parry Sound in 2000 and were long time members of the Parry Sound Golf Club, Parry Sound Seniors, and the McKellar Seniors. They spent their winters at Orange Beach, Alabama. Cliff is dearly missed.

As was Cliff’s wish, cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Visitation in honour of Cliff’s Life will take place at the Logan Funeral Home (705-746-5855), 81 James Street, Parry Sound, on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre, or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.

Forever in our hearts:
Those we love never go away, they walk beside us.

My deepest sympathy Reva and to your family. I loved the stories you told me of Cliff’s love of singing and belonging to a barber shop quartet. I loved his sense of humour when playing cards. I know you had many wonderful years together and many loving memories. These will help you get through in the days ahead. His suffering are over and now he is at peace. He will be missed by many. Hugs Reva.

Reva, Bob, Heather and family. as difficult of a moment this is, Cliff has left this life touching thousands of people with his love and passion of family, music and golf. The memories that you can cherish forever of this wonderful man are endless. Any moments that I spent with Cliff were moments of pride and joy for his love of life. Yes, he will be missed by many but that beautiful clear singing voice and charming personality will never be forgotten... Inside humour between Cliff, Bob and myself that still brings a smile to my face are words that I shall cherish forever... Par, Par, Birdie Par Par, Bogie Birdie, Par Par... Farewell my Man and Rest in Peace. You have surely earned a front row seat at the table... Fare thee well, It is well with my Soul....
