CLARENCE McCOY

In loving memory of Clarence “Chum” McCoy, 70 years. Passed away peacefully on November 8, 2021 at the West Parry Sound Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer.

Loving father of Bill, Tasha, and Kayla. Cherished grandfather of James, Nodin, Skylar, Ashtin, Kate, Sophia, Brayden, and Griffin. Devoted uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario on March 4, 1951 he was raised in Naughton, Ontario. Dear son of Eva Guenette (Nootchtai), adopted and raised by Beatrice and Oliver McCoy of Atikameksheng (all predeceased).

Beloved twin brother of Clayton (Lynda). Predeceased by sister Patricia and brothers Gerald and Donald. Brother of Edward Barnesdale (Darlene), Elizabeth Bushey (Delford), Wesley Nootchtai, Allan Guenette, and Sydney Barnesdale.

Clarence worked at the Shawanaga Gas & Variety for over 20 years where he easily pumped millions of litres! He greeted all of his travelling friends and family with a smile and often a bad joke. He will be especially missed by his best friend Jim. Missing him on the greens next spring will be his golfing buddies. The Blackhawks have lost a die-hard.

Thank you to Dr. Shahata, Dr. Witt, and the medical teams at the Northeastern Ontario Cancer Centre and West Parry Sound Health Centre for the amazing care provided over the years.

As per Clarence’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Private family burials to take place in Shawanaga and Atikameksheng at later dates.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre (Palliative Care Unit) would be appreciated.
