BERT RACHAR JR.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, William Herbert (Bert Jr.) Rachar, at Lakeland Long Term Care, on Friday, April 3rd, 2020. Age 63 years. Bert fought a long and valiant battle with Multiple System Atrophy, and Parkinson’s Disease.

Cherished father of Ashley Chowns (Richard), Adam Rachar, Elizabeth Rachar, and Jennifer Rachar, all of Parry Sound, and also Bill Dayman of Orillia and Donna LaFleur of Barrie. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Aubrey, William and Scarlett Middlebrook, and Loryn Lafleur. Bert leaves behind his parents Bert Sr. and Lillian Rachar, and also his brothers Leonard and Terry, and sister Judy, all of Orillia. Bert remained friends with his children’s mother, Christine. She was a great comfort to Bert the last two years, and shares in the family’s grief. Some of Bert’s greatest memories were made in Muskoka, while working for the Arthur family. David, Lynn, Shelby, Cole and Graydon were like family to him, and we know they will miss him too. Bert will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Bert had a great passion for sports, and was a champion 5-pin bowler, both in Parry Sound, and in North Bay. He loved golf, hockey, baseball, darts…you name it, he loved it!

Bert’s family wishes to thank all of the staff at Lakeland Long Term Care, Parry Sound, and also the staff at the Leacock Care Centre in Orillia for their care.

In keeping with Bert’s wishes, a private family service was held at the Logan Memorial Chapel (705-746-5855), 81 James Street, Parry Sound. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, with notice provided to those he wished to attend.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to assist the family with funeral expenses, Parkinson Canada, or MSA Canada would be appreciated.

Condolences

My condolences to all of the family. I have many fond memories of Bert at the cottage. He had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. He always wanted to help no matter if it was his job or not. He always had his cup half full never half empty. I’m sure his later years were very difficult for him and his family. Your kind words mentioned of our family touched me greatly. Thank you for that. Sending you all hugs and strength. Lynne

To Bert's Family.....We were so saddened to hear of Bert's passing. He was part of our family for over 20 years. We really enjoyed his helpful nature and his caring attitude. Our children, Graydon, Cole and Shelby, grew up with Bert in their lives. I will always remember the sound of his tin boat coming across the Bay. Our fond memories of Bert will stay with us all forever. Our sympathies to all Bert's family. Please let us know when the memorial service will take place. The Arthur Family

Len, Terry, Adam and family,
We are so sad to hear about Bert's passing. He was a warm and wonderful guy, full of an admirable sense of humility, and always willing to help out in any way that he could. We have missed Bert's presence in Muskoka since he left a couple of years ago and now even more.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences,
Flip and Liz

I am incredibly sad to hear of Bert's passing. Bert was so incredibly helpful to me especially when I as at the cottage by myself with all the Arthur kids and mine. He would always take the time to help me with the propane, the boat gas or find Tucker or Oscar. He loved to chat, he loved sports and he is simply a great person. Bert will always be a part of my cottage memories.
