BERNICE GATES

Bernice Carter Gates passed away peacefully at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at the age of 97 years.

Beloved wife of the late William Murray Gates for 59 years. Loving sister of the late Beverley Jobbins. Survived by sister in law of Audrey Jobbins of Bracebridge. Dear aunt to Brian Jobbins of Bracebridge, Karen Jobbins of Bracebridge, Cheryl Jobbins of Markham, Debbie Vernon (late husband Greg) of Bracebridge, Margaret Adams (Doug) of Temagami, Ralph Gault (Beth) of Windsor, Peter Gates (Kathy) of Burlington, and great aunt to Trevor Vernon of Barrie, Drew Vernon of Bracebridge, and Godmother to Peter Wood of Bracebridge. Fondly remembered by her other relatives, neighbours, and friends who she regularly enjoyed playing ‘Bridge’ with.

Word of Bernice’s death was received by her family and friends with much sadness. She held an affectionate regard to all who had known her. Bernice was well known in Rosseau and surrounding area when she and Bill owned and operated Gates Service Station and Restaurant in Rosseau for many years. She was a dedicated life member of the Legion Auxiliary and a very devoted member of the Church of the Redeemer, and bookkeeper at Rosseau Lake College for many years. Bernice and Bill in their late years moved to Parry Sound and lived at Beaconview Heights. They loved and cherished their wonderful view of Georgian Bay. Bernice and Bill over the years enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, and travelling to many wonderful places and enjoyed their visits in Florida

Memorial visitation to take place at the Logan Funeral Home on Friday, July 21st between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.

A Celebration of Bernice’s life will take place at the Church of the Redeemer, Rosseau on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at 1:00 P.M.

Private interment at Ullswater cemetery at a later date.
